A great meals needs only real, simple ingredients and a working kitchen needs only certain tools (a very nice butcher knife and saute pan for starters). You can skip the gadgets and gizmos for peeling, chopping, slicing and storing different vegetables... they aren't necessary. During our cooking lesson, I'll go through all the basic supplies you'll need to create delicious meals.

Why learn to cook?
Fast food has become the way of life in America and we have lost appreciation for the art and magic of cooking. Cooking connects us to the food we eat and can help bring us together as a family and as a community.
Processed food has been stripped of it's nutrients and provides little more than protein, carbohydrates, and fat but our health depends on much more than that. Nutrition comes from whole foods. Vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are essential for all the functions in the body, from immunity, to digestion, to hormone production. Without these important micronutrients, protein, carbs, and fat do us little good... Cooking with whole foods offer the maximum nutrition possible; eating a home-made meal provides the nutrients we need to keep our bodies in balance.
Processed food will make us sick. The lack the nutrients, added sugar, damaged fats, pesticides, preservatives and other non-food items they contain will leave us depleted and on the road to chronic disease. Cooking allows us to choose exactly what goes into the meals we eat.
