What does your heart truly desire? To be a movie star or the next success story from American Idol, to summit Mt. Everest, to ski the Swiss Alps...
Here is a journaling exercise for you to explore during the month of hearts, February. Give yourself at least 30 minutes, although once you get going, you may find you'll need (and want) more time. Make room for that to happen.
Sit in silence, away from all distractions, and allow your heart to speak openly and freely. What is she/he saying? What is she/he craving? Come inside yourself, close out the rest of the world, and take some time for your emotions to run clear; disregard any subjective criticism from your conscious and subconscious. In what way does your heart crave fulfillment, love, health, nourishment?

Now, read what you wrote and note where and when your mind tells you "you can't have or be those things." These might be thoughts of, "I'm not good enough, strong enough, rich enough, smart enough," or "I don't have the support, the resources or the time..." Write these mental blocks down along-side or underneath your first entry. Again, let it all flow.
Next, and this might be the hardest part, identify where those beliefs come from. This may be challenging because often these beliefs are unconsciously ingrained in our mind. Perhaps we heard other people saying and believing negative thoughts, or, we read something on social media, in Fashion magazine, or heard something on TV that offered a negative belief (direct or indirect), like "All models have long legs, so I'll never be a model because I'm only 5'2"" And, since the positive counter-belief wasn't there to step in and over-write it, it stuck. If you cannot trace a belief back to it's source, this is a good indication it shouldn't take up valuable real estate in your brain... Especially if it is holding you back!
No matter how long your list of dis-beliefs, there's good news. Beliefs are like habits; we get stuck in the same old thinking process we're used to and don't exercise change. My friends: change is growth and growth is healthy.

We can change our beliefs so to bring happiness and success.
Lastly, look back at the messages from your heart. What skills, qualities, or resources would it take to achieve these things? Write them down as though have already have them (because you do!). For instance...
Just as believing in your limitations will hold you back and not allow for what you truly desire and deserve, believing in your strengths and in your full potential will bring you success.
- I am strong.
- I am confident and a desirable candidate for any position I seek.
- I am smart and can use the knowledge I already have to advance (or I can find the knowledge I need).
Just as believing in your limitations will hold you back and not allow for what you truly desire and deserve, believing in your strengths and in your full potential will bring you success.
Let the beliefs of your unlimited potential become your habit.
